Seven Deadly Sins

From Proverbs, Chapter 6:16-19
16-These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17-A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,18-An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,19-A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.KJV
The one thing to notice is there are seven things God says are an “abomination” to Him. Most people think of the verses that refer to the word “abomination” as sexual immorality such as homosexuality (actual word not used, but clearly referred to as lying with another man, etc). The word abomination is found 76 times in the Bible (KJV) for many different reasons, much too many to discuss here, but many have to do with dishonesty, etc.
The one point to be made here is that God sees all sin as an abomination, even the sin of lying (v-17&19). That’s right lying, and that means even a little “white lie.” So for the “zealots” that want to condemn all the people “you” have chosen to condemn because of their “bad” sins, it might be profitable to read and heed what these verses are saying about your sins. That is not to minimize sin in any way, but to put a touch of “reality” back into those who are quick to condemn. If “they” were to check their own lives they just might find a sin or two that God calls an “abomination.”
What is the point of all this? The point is we are all sinners; we have all “fallen short” of the mark of perfection which is required of God to enter into his presence (Heaven). That is the reason God sent His Son Jesus to die for us to pay for all of our sins in order that we may enter into His presence when we die. Romans 6:23 says that the payment for sin is DEATH (that death means separation from God, not just a physical death, but a permanent separation from God for eternity). The remainder of Romans 6:23 tells us Heaven is a gift from God. But, we must receive that gift. Not all elect to receive the gift, many reject the gift. Don’t reject it, receive it, it’s FREE. However, Jesus and God (the Father) paid a heavy price for your gift. Don’t reject because some religious zealot has condemned you; we have all been condemned by our own sin. You see God cannot let anyone into His presence (Heaven) that has sin, that is why you must allow Jesus to be the payment for your sin (that’s the only payment God will accept) through the gift of eternal life provided only through Jesus (the Son of God).
